OVERVIEW

There is an increased demand for qualified early childhood educators across communities in Ontario. Get the skills you need to start a rewarding career working with young children. This activity-based program is taught using a holistic approach in which the stages of a child’s developmental growth are emphasized including cognitive skills and socio-emotional development.

Students will explore Indigenous community realities within the context of the Early Childhood Education field. Indigenous ways of knowing and understanding the world are examined and presented with knowledge and skills relative to Indigenous culture, values and practices. Students learn from an Indigenous perspective through intensive field placements that focus on personal growth and skills application.

FIELD PLACEMENT

The Early Childhood Education program includes field placement and volunteer opportunities that will give you hands-on experience!

Students will participate in mandatory placement where they will have the opportunity to integrate classroom, lab, and simulation learning into real world contexts. Students are responsible for costs associated with transportation to and from assigned placements, which may require travel to adjacent or nearby communities in the region.
