A Personal Support Worker (PSW) is a valuable member of the modern health care team and in high demand in today’s job market. In just a few short months you can acquire the knowledge, skills and hands-on training to begin a career in this challenging field. If you enjoy seeing people increase their independence, self-esteem, dignity and social interaction, consider this worthwhile vocation.
This one-year certificate program trains students to offer personal care and home management services to clients in community or institutional settings. Personal Support Workers provide services to clients with physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral challenges and work under a regulated health professional or in a supported independent living environment. Students learn through in-class instruction, hands-on labs and community placements. Graduates receive a Personal Support Worker Certificate from Canadore College.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U) .
Please Note: A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening – (clear of convictions involving abuse or theft) are required before Clinical Placement.
