For many years, Tontakaierine Tyendinaga Justice Circle has been offering alternatives for youth involved with the justice system. Our experience and understanding of Indigenous conflict resolution serves to inform and strengthen delivery of the Community Justice Services program.
You will gain a working knowledge of the law, criminology, victimology and human behaviour. Benefit from practical workshops, industry tours and visits, and an integrated field placement component. Applied workshops include conflict resolution, mental health and addictions, suicide prevention and forensics. This comprehensive training will give you the skills you need to work in the fields of youth justice, restorative justice and adult corrections.
The program includes a 200-hour field placement component that can be completed anywhere in Canada!
Topics studied include: Criminal law and procedures, abnormal psychology, community program development and intervention, case management techniques, interviewing and counselling techniques, special needs and diverse client groups, human behaviour and mental health.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U).
Note: You will be applying for our next Community and Justice Services program at a location to be determined, scheduled to begin September 2018 (program starts are contingent on adequate registration).
